I’m a second generation occupier living on what’s referred to as Treaty 1 land,
I have a copy of that so-called treaty and think it’s a prime example of the genocidal reach of symbol-script magic; I believe The Mohawk Nation are right in refusing to acknowledge and therefore validate such insane and evil non-deals, since everyone knows - admittedly or not - there was only torture and theft written into them, on paperwork signed with Xs at gun-point, in the wake of devastation after devastation. I refer to Yves Engler’s blog for everything else the corporatists of this country do wrong - in Africa, South America - and I hope I’m doing something to help turn the tide.
Most specifically, the lovely woman who lived in my apartment before me, who, to the best of my memory is from a Northern family of the Dene and owner of a sewing machine - double affirmations I would get to live here on approval from true Authorities - turned down all the other repliers to her sub-let notice after meeting me, assuring me she knew my first-time renter application would be accepted; for 6 years, I’ve dedicated and promised my best efforts to her Ancestors.
